FA Cup Semi Final Betting Tips, 22nd to 23rd April 2017

Here we will take a glance at both of the semi finals – Chelsea v Tottenham and Arsenal v Manchester City – and assess the best value betting tips for each match.

FA Cup Semi Final Betting Tips

Chelsea v Tottenham – Saturday 22nd April 2017

Can Tottenham end their Wembley woes by beating Chelsea in their FA Cup semi-final? The Blues are 23/20 favourites to win in 90 minutes, with Spurs out at 23/10. It’s an interesting tie for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who found a way to trouble Chelsea in their last meeting, but they’re in awful form at this ground.

While Spurs know how to get around the Blues’ back three, they are woefully inconsistent at Wembley, winning one of their four games here this term. That makes both teams to score worth backing in this clash, which is priced at 10/11 with Bet365.

If you can also see a goal apiece here, it’s hard to see the scoring stopping at two goals. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is priced at 29/20 with Coral. Given Spurs’ recent poor results at Wembley, a 2-2 draw with Gent and losses to Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen, we can see Chelsea edging this clash.

Over 1.5 goals for the Blues is priced at 5/4 with Betfair, and Antonio Conte has his side in excellent scoring form. Their front three are in lethal form, which should make up for any problems Spurs can cause going forward. That has us backing an exciting tie at Wembley, with the Premier League leaders claiming a place in the final. While they’re decent value in the match betting, we like the look of a Chelsea win and both teams to score, which is priced at 7/2 with Sky Bet.

Arsenal v Manchester City – Sunday 23rd April 2017

Manchester City come in to their FA Cup semi against Arsenal as 6/5 favourites with Bet365. Despite the Gunners’ strong record in this competition in recent years, they’re 12/5 outsiders with SkyBet. Given how Arsene Wenger’s side have struggled in big games, it’s easy to see why punters are siding with Pep Guardiola and co.

One thing which we expect from this semi-final is goals, given how both sides have struggled at the back. Arsenal look disorganised defensively, with little midfield cover. Meanwhile, Man City continue to lack quality at centre-half, while their full-backs aren’t suited to Guardiola’s style of play.

Given their depth in attack, it’s worth backing both teams to score at 3/4 with Ladbrokes. Arsenal have seen both teams score in 70% of their Premier League games, and they face a City side who have scored in 86% of their league games.

If you’re considering backing goals here, there are several markets which might offer better value. For instance, favourites City are priced at 16/5 with Betfair to win and concede. The Citizens score 1.93 goals per game in the league, and they’re 8/7 with 888Sport to score at least twice here.

There are markets to consider away from the match result market, as we can see a high scoring second half. Arsenal have scored 61% of their goals in the second half, while 59% of their goals against have come after half time. That tempts us to back BTTS in the second half, which is 9/4 with Sky Bet.
