France at the World Cup so far…
France are steadily growing into this World Cup and that should be a worry for their rivals. They started poorly but have been getting better and better. They have a really well-balanced side, with world class players in a number of positions, good strength in depth and X-Factor from Mbappe.
Here are their results so far and our comments:
- Beat Australia 2-1 – were decidedly average in World Cup opener and lucky to scrape win
- Beat Peru 1-0 – see above
- Drew 0-0 with Denmark – draw suited both teams with Denmark qualifying and France topping group. Boring and slightly controversial fixed draw!
- Beat Argentina 4-3 – thrilling game which France could have won more easily as Mbappe shone
- Beat Uruguay 2-0 – professional job made a lot easier by keeper blunder for second goal
France have won every game they tried to win. They are at full strength here and should be relatively fresh. They are yet to go to extra time and rested players against the Danes.
They have got better game by game and are the bookies’ favourites to beat Belgium. Maybe you would like to join Ladbrokes and back them at 33/1?!
