Arsenal v Barcelona Tips and Betting Offers, Tuesday 23rd February 2016, Emirates Stadium, Kick off: 19:45
Arsenal return to Champions League action on Tuesday night when they face Barcelona at the Emirates. After finishing up as runners up to Bayern Munich in the group stage, Arsenal knew they’d get a tricky tie in this round, but they’ve been handed the biggest test possible. The Gunners know they need a big result here to take to the Camp Nou, but will their experiences against Bayern this term be in useful here?

Arsene Wenger went for a more defensive approach when his side had to face Bayern Munich at home in the group stage, as he knew that their future in the competition was on the line. They’re in a similar scenario now, as the Gunners need to keep this tie close against a Barca side who are in rampant form at the minute.
That could mean we see the return of pragmatic Wenger, as he looks to lock down his defence against Barca’s attacking trio. If they go out and try and play their own usual style against the European champions, they’ll be obliterated. This clash requires a different approach.
Arsenal got a 2-0 win over Bayern at home a few months ago, a win which kick started their campaign after two defeats. A repeat of that result would be perfect for Arsenal here, but it’s very unlikely. Bet Victor have a 2-0 home win priced up at 35/1, which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.
We’re going for something a little shorter here, as our first bet is under 2.5 goals at 11/8 with 888Sport. It’s not the immediate bet you think of for this clash, because we all want to see these two in an exciting, end to end game. But, if you look at Real Madrid’s win in Roma, the expected goal glut gives way for a more cagey game. You can hardly blame either team for that considering what is at stake.
So, with Arsenal likely to play a lot more defensive, this is likely to be another cagey clash. While we all want to see chances and goals, you could make a decent profit off backing a tighter affair at the Emirates.
We’re also going for a 1-1 correct score, which is 8/1 with BetVictor. The Gunners might play well defensively, but it’s hard to see them holding out against the Spanish champions. A draw wouldn’t be the worst result for them, and it might end up being the best that they can salvage. Few other sides have stopped Barca this term, but we think that Wenger’s men can hold them in this first leg, leaving the tie set up for an interesting second leg.
