Arsenal v Man City Betting Tips

Arsenal are currently second on 33 points, five behind Leicester at the top of the Premier League table, with City a point further back. Both sides can be mesmerising at their best but very frustrating at their worst, so picking the winner on Monday night isn’t easy.

Arsenal

Arsenal are unbeaten in five, winning four of those and unusually for them their record against the top sides this season is very good. The Gunners have won six, drawn two and lost just once in their nine games against teams in the top 11, with a 5-2 win at Leicester and a 3-0 win over Man United the highlights. They have the best defence in the top flight and have Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud in great form and also look to be coping well without the injured Coquelin and Cazorla, whilst Sanchez should return.

Man City

City expect their star South American back, with Aguero likely to feature, although they are still without defensive leader Vincent Kompany. Without their Belgian captain City have leaked too many goals and that will be a worry at the Emirates. City have been poor on the road, losing at Stoke and being hammered 4-1 at Spurs, as well as drawing with United and bottom side Villa. They have four wins in their last five but haven’t looked convincing and last won away from home in the Premier League on the 12th September!

Arsenal v Man City Head to Head, Conclusion and Tips

Arsenal won 2-0 at City the last time the sides met, in January, before which their were two league draws (1-1 and 2-2, both at Arsenal). Prior to that City won 6-3 at home and 2-0 away, so City haven’t lost at the Emirates since April 2012, their only loss there since 2009.

The head to head record should give City some hope but on balance we have to favour Arsenal given current form and morale. City look poor at the back without Kompany and with Arsenal scoring freely that will be a major issue. With home advantage and a greater flexibility, we fancy Arsenal will beat Man City in what should be a thrilling game and odds of 17/12 are solid, although the enhanced odds of 7/1 or 8/1 on Arsenal really are a steal!

BTTS looks a banker here at short odds of 6/10 with Betfair but you can up that to 7/2 at Ladbrokes by going Arsenal and BTTS. We expect a high scoring game here and over 3.5 goals is worth considering at 9/5 with BetVictor, whilst in the correct score betting both 3-1 and 3-2 are worth thinking about at long odds of 20/1 (BetVictor) and 28/1 (888sport – or 84/1 for new customers!).
