Best Bets

- 1-0 to West Brom – 7/1 BetVictor
This game sees two Midlands rivals go head to head for a place at Wembley in an FA Cup semi final and with a one in three chance of facing Bradford or Reading, an FA Cup final could be well within the grasp of whoever triumphs here.
However, it remains to be seen just how seriously both managers will take this one, given both remain locked in a relegation battle. That said, with West Brom having picked up eight points in their last five league games they are now on 30 points and Tony Pulis may feel his side can afford to really go for this one.
In contrast Villa are down on 25 points, 17th in the Premier League and potentially in real danger, especially as the three sides beneath them all have games in hand (at the time of writing). Tim Sherwood hasn’t had the desired impact since replacing Paul Lambert and the Villains face a huge game at Sunderland after this one. That game is a week later but even so, Sherwood will not want to pick up injuries given the Black Cats are one of their key relegation rivals.
Sherwood will hope to build on their crucial win on Tuesday when they beat…West Brom! That game, also at Villa Park, ended 2-1, with goals from Agbonlahor and a 90th minute Benteke penalty. The game looked destined to finish 1-1 but Villa got a huge, huge win and they will hope to carry the momentum from that result into this tie.
However, Premier League survival remains the top priority for the Villains and we think that whilst they had the extra motivation in the league game, West Brom will have it here. The Baggies had kept four clean sheets in a row prior to the last game and we think they can keep another one here against a Villa side that, despite those two goals, remains quite simply dreadful in front of goal.
Despite his penalty on Tuesday Benteke looks a shadow of his former self and we expect a very well-drilled, disciplined and highly motivated West Brom side to nick a tight, dour game, with 1-0 our correct score betting tip.
