Man City v Man United Tips and Betting Offers, Sunday 11th November 2018, Etihad Stadium, Kick off: 4:30pm
Can Man United repeat their win at the Etihad last season and end City’s unbeaten league start? The hosts have been in fantastic form of late, but the Red Devils come into this clash on a high. Their 2-1 win at Juventus on Wednesday was a lift to the whole club, and it has given Jose Mourinho a chance to turn things around at Old Trafford. Can the Portuguese follow up that victory with another huge result on the road?
Both of these two had huge wins in Europe in midweek, but for different reasons. United made sure that they’re on course for the last 16 by beating Juventus – arguably their best European result since Ferguson left. Meanwhile, the Citizens were able to rack up six goals at home to Shakhtar Donetsk. That’s put Guardiola’s side on the path to the last 16, and kept up a six game winning run. It’s been a brilliant string of victories too, with City scoring 23 times across their previous six outings.
United should be concerned about this trip, with their defence certainly looking below par so far this season. They haven’t given David De Gea enough protection, and Mourinho has gone on the offensive as a result. While that’s a positive thing for the Portuguese, it may not be the best way to approach a clash with City. After all, that scoring form from the champions has to make them favourites for this encounter.
City Short Odds Favourites
The bookies aren’t holding back in that regard, as City have been made 2/5 favourites with BetVictor ahead of this one. That’s an incredibly short price for the derby, and it reflects the gulf between the pair.
Meanwhile, the draw can be found at 4/1 with Betfair, and the visitors are a massive 8/1 with bet365 to come away from the Etihad with three points. They may have achieved that last season, but City look relentless at the minute.
The hosts have seen some thrilling games so far this season, with 83% of their home matches seeing at least three goals scored. United’s defensive woes have made them just as open – 83% of their trips have seen at least three goals scored.
With that in mind, we see an open game in this clash. We’re going with City to win on Sunday, and over 2.5 goals to be scored in the match. After a starring role in two games where City hit 12 goals, Raheem Sterling is our anytime scorer pick at 6/5 with bet365.
Of course, if all these odds sound a little short, or you think man United will cause an upset, there might just be a 150/1 offer kicking about!
