Bayern Munich v Arsenal Betting Preview, Wednesday 4th November 2015

Bayern are the overwhelming favourites to win this Champions League clash given they have won seven out of seven on home soil this season. Add to that the fact that they are packed full of top quality stars and that Arsenal are missing half a side through injuries and the odds are certainly stacked against the Gunners.

But Arsenal are on something of a roll at the moment, and – it should not be forgotten – they beat Bayern at the Emirates a couple of weeks ago, their 2-0 triumph showing a mature and balanced approach from a side that is all too often inclined to attack at all costs. Arsene Wenger played a tactical masterstroke in directing his side to sit back and keep their shape, despite being the home side, and with the speed and intent of the breaks they were able to hurt Bayern despite not enjoying much of the ball for long periods of the game.

When Olivier Giroud was brought on for Theo Walcott in the second half at the Emirates, he caused the usually stout Bayern defence all sorts of problems, and given that Theo is out injured, it will be the Frenchman given the nod tonight.

In short, Arsenal shouldn’t be completely written off, and odds of 12/1 for them to get the win certainly offer a large chunk of value. Ultimately, though, we have to side with Bayern in this one. Their exceptional home record coupled with their desire for revenge and Arsenal’s injury woes make use think the better option is to back the Germans at odds of 4/1 for victory.
