England v Turkey Betting Preview, Sunday 22nd May 2016

This matched between England and Turkey will start to really get us in the mood for the Euros (as will out Euro 2016 Betting Offers article if you’re looking for the best bonuses ahead of the tournament in France!). While England are in a group with Wales, Russia and Slovakia at the Euros, Turkey must face current champions Spain, Croatia and Czech Republic… and both managers will be pleased to have a decent test here before the real business commences in June.

England boss Hodgson will no doubt use the match to test one or fringe players as he works out which three players he will leave out of his provisional 26-man squad. Of course, with Manchester United playing Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on Saturday, Hodgson will be without his captain Wayne Rooney and young starlet Marcus Rashford, but there will be another chance to assess the youngster when England host Australia next Friday.

For this match, victory will be high on Roy’s agenda as he attempts to meld the various attacking talents at his disposal into an effective unit. The likes of Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling and Ross Barkley are all potential match winners, but can the manager find the formula that could take his team all the way to European glory? That remains to be seen, but we certainly think England will win this match.

Turkey qualified for the Euros on the basis of being the best third placed side in qualifying, but bear in mind that they finished third behind Czech Republic and Iceland (though ahead of Netherlands!) and we see why they should not be feared. Especially since England have beaten Germany and France fairly recently (let’s ignore the defeat to the Dutch though!).

While Turkey have one or two dangerous players, they don’t have the dynamism or physicality to seriously trouble England and we fancy the home side will win this one by two clear goals.

If you don’t have a Betfair betting account and you agree with us, get on England at a massive price of 8/1 and take home a tasty profit!
