Super Bowl 50: Carolina Panthers v Denver Broncos Tips, Odds and Betting Offers, 7th February 2016
This weekend sees one of the most watched sporting events in the world as Super Bowl 50 hits our screens with the Denver Broncos facing off against the Carolina Panthers, a side who are yet to pick up the biggest prize in American Football having lost in their only previous Super Bowl appearance.
It will be a late start for those of you following the game on this side of the pond with the match getting underway at 23:30 UK time, yet those amongst you who do manage to stay awake should be rewarded with a cracking game of football from the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California where the San Francisco 49ers ply their trade.
Going into this game, the Carolina Panthers are the overwhelming favourites to walk away with the trophy at the end of play on what will be Monday morning over here. It is a game which is being billed as a battle between the two quarterbacks, with legendary 39 year old Peyton Manning, who is aiming to be the oldest ever winning QB, lining up against the Panthers’ Cam Newton. 26 year old Newton, who has spent his entire pro career with the Panthers, has had a very impressive season and should the Panthers lift the trophy, there is a very good chance that Brown will pick up the NFL MVP award, becoming the first man to win both the Super Bowl and the MVP since Kurt Warner in 1999.
It may well come down to who wins that battle, but over the season the Broncos have certainly been lacking in the offense department, unusually for them, and they are one of the worst sides in terms of their offense stats to ever reach the Super Bowl. However, they have been defensively solid and they have made grinding out wins a great habit to have and it was little surprise to see the side seeded first in the AFC play-offs make it through to the showpiece event.
However, we think that they will have their work cut out on Sunday and we think that it will be the Panthers who walk away with the trophy on Sunday. The side from Charlotte went 15-1 in the regular season and they look set to continue the Broncos Super Bowl hoodoo. They have quality throughout the side including wide receiver Ted Ginn who racked up 10 touchdowns in the regular season, the most out of either player on these two sides and he looks like a good bet to be the first player to bag a touchdown on Sunday and odds of 16/1 (at BetVictor) certainly aren’t to be sniffed at.
Our main betting tip, however, is to back the Panthers -5.5, with generous odds of 10/11 on offer at Ladbrokes (Ladbrokes review), with the bookie also throwing in a nice free bet worth up to £50 for new customers too!
