What are football accumulator bets?
Just in case you are reading this and wondering, “what the hell are they on about?”, we’ll quickly run through what football accas actually are.
In short, an accumulator bet – commonly referred to as an “acca” in betting parlance – is distinguished from a standard “single” bet in that the acca includes more than one selection. Crucially the selections should not be directly related.
For instance, betting on a player to score first and a certain correct score in a given football match would not be deemed an accumulator because the two selections are related (if a player scores then the chances of a particular scoreline occurring is greater). These are known as “related contingencies”. But forget about that because for the Coral Acca Boost offer, you need to bet on four or more different matches anyway.
So, let’s take an example to show how it works. Say you want to bet on the following four matches on a given Premier League weekend:
- Man United v Arsenal
- Tottenham v West Ham
- Man City v Chelsea
- Liverpool v Everton
To keep things simple, let’s assume you think each of the home sides will win and that each home side is priced at odds of evens to get the three points. So, assuming you place an accumulator with a £2 stake that includes each of the four home sides to win, you would be getting effective odds of 15/1.
£2.00 on Man United at evens pays £2.00 profit plus your £2.00 stake.
The £4.00 you now have goes on Tottenham at evens, giving you £4.00 profit and your £4.00 stake.
Then £8 goes on Man City, to bring back £16, which goes on Liverpool bringing home a total of £32. Add on the £3 bonus from Coral and you have a tasty total of £32 cash and a £3 free bet from a £2.00 initial bet.
