Birmingham City v Brighton & Hove Albion Tips

27th July 2019

Under 2.5 goals

Brighton continue their Premier League preparations in the post-Chris Hughton era with a friendly against Birmingham City on Saturday. Former Swansea boss Graham Potter is the man charged with keeping Brighton in the top flight for another season, and the 2-1 defeat to Fulham last week might ring a few alarm bells amongst fans.

Birmingham will certainly offer a stern test to the Seagulls and though they too sacked their manager (Garry Monk) in the close season, the players will see this as a good opportunity to impress caretaker boss Pep Clotel. In terms of the likely result of the match, we think it will be a close-fought encounter but not an overly entertaining one. Our main tip here is for under 2.5 goals to be scored.

Wigan Athletic v Burnley Betting Tips

27th July 2019

15:00

Burnley to win to nil

Sean Dyche’s Burnley are keeping it local on Saturday with a pre-season friendly at Wigan Athletic. Burnley ended last season in 15th position in the top flight having accrued 40 points, but Dyche (and Burnley fans) will be eager for a little better this time around. This match is unlikely to give us any clear indication of Burnley’s credentials, but we certainly think they will be too strong for the Latics, who finished 18th in the second tier last term.

Paul Cook’s Wigan ended last season relatively strongly but Burnley will be too organised and too ruthless for the visitors and we predict the top flight side will win this one to nil at a decent price.

Sevilla v Everton Betting Tips

27th July 2019

12:00

Sevilla to win and both teams to score

Everton ended last season in eighth position in the Premier League table, which is just about par for a side who have been somewhat left behind by the likes of near neighbours Liverpool, the Manchester clubs and London triumvirate of Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal. As part of the chasing pack, anything above last season’s finish would be decent for the Toffees, but Marco Silva and his side will be hoping to somehow break into the top six.

Saturday’s game against La Liga side Sevilla in Mainz will certainly give fans an insight into how Everton might fare this season, and hopefully how one or two potentially key signings might fit into the team. Ultimately though we feel the Spaniards will have too much class for the visitors and though Everton should get on the scoresheet, we think they’ll leave disappointed. We’re backing Sevilla to win and both teams to score at decent odds.
