Italy v Spain Betting Tips – 27th June 2016

In many people’s eyes – particular those of Spanish fans – this match shouldn’t be happening. Spain should have won Group D and set up a Round of 16 match against neighbours Portugal… crucially, in the easier side of the draw. But football doesn’t always go to plan and Spain lost 2-1 to Croatia in their final group game to finish second.

Italy won’t be too pleased about that, but there is every chance that the Azzurri will have enough to get at Spain. At least on the evidence of the Croatia victory. Spain – for all their possession and patient build up – really aren’t that solid at the back. And as Italy showed when beating Belgium in their opener, Antonio Conte’s team has a fair bit of attacking zeal.

Spain are priced as the 11/10 favourites to win this one in 90 minutes with most bookies; Italy are out at 7/2, with the draw at 2/1. But overall we think it will be Italy – who came into the tournament with few people giving them a hope – who will run out victorious.

They had already guaranteed top spot in Group E before their final match (which they lost 1-0 to Ireland). That gave Conte the chance to both rest a few key players and test out some of the reserves. With the main men coming back into this one well-rested and confident, we just feel Italy have the tools to get the victory in 90 minutes.

As such we suggest backing Italy at the monster odds of 12/1 with Betfair. Assuming you don’t have a betting account with them already. If you do, why not grab the TREBLE THE ODDS OFFER with 888sport instead and still get decent odds of almost 9/1 on Italy to win?
