Portugal v Wales Betting Tips – 6th July 2016
Here we’ll take a look at each of the three betting markets that allow you to qualify for the money back offer with Ladbrokes, with a tip for each.
Betting on the first goalscorer – as the name suggests – is simply placing a bet on which player scores the first goal of the game. Note that own goals don’t count in this market, so if the first goal is an own goal, it will be the second goal (or the first non-own goal) that counts.
Bale v Ronaldo?
It would be tempting to focus on the two main men in this encounter: Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo. And indeed it would be no surprise if either one notched the first goal of the game on Wednesday. But obviously the odds reflect that too, with Ronaldo priced at 3/1 to score first and Bale at 9/2.
Instead we are going to opt for the Wales captain Ashley Williams at a tasty price of 33/1. He was causing problems for the Belgium defence at set pieces in the quarter final, and Portugal are not great defensively. Williams could therefore find the space he needs to get on the scoresheet once again.
Half Time/Full Time
A bet on the half time/full time market is one that predicts the ‘result’ at both half time and full time (90 minutes) of the game. You can choose from Portugal to be winning, Wales to be winning or a draw at both half time and full time. As such there are nine possible combinations for the half time/full time market:
The more likely options in this match, according to the bookies’ odds, are Portugal/Portugal at odds of 13/5 and Draw/Draw at odds of 3/1.
We, though, are confident that Wales can do the business and we’ll be backing Draw/Wales at tasty odds of 13/2.
Here you are simply betting on what the score will be when normal time (90 minutes plus any injury time) has been completed.
This is the hardest of the three markets to predict, but the odds reflect that. Portugal to win 1-0 and the 1-1 draw are both priced at odds of 9/2 with Ladbrokes. But we much prefer the 12/1 on offer for Wales to win 2-1.
