Manchester City v Liverpool Betting Tips, Premier League, 19 March 2017

Man City host Liverpool in a Premier League blockbuster. Take a look at our tips for the game if you fancy a bet.

There is a point and a place between the teams. City are third on 56 points from 27 games, with Liverpool fourth on 55 points from 28 matches. This is a key game in the battle for the top four.

With Arsenal and Man United both having two games in hand on the Kop outfit, Liverpool’s hopes of a top four finish would be dealt a huge blow if they lost here.

Read on as we offer up two great betting tips for this match. Whatever you want to bet on, take a look at our best free bets to swing the odds your way. The bet £5, £20 free offer for Coral is brilliant for smaller stakes players. Anyway, let’s get to those tips!

City v Liverpool Tips

  • Man City to win – evens
  • Man City to win 3-2 – 22/1

Match Analysis and Preview

This is clearly a tough game to call, with two very well-matched sides. Both have world class managers and yet both have underperformed this term. Pep and Klopp will both be feeling the pressure but a win here would make things look a whole lot rosier.

The Draw?

Given there is little between the teams, the draw may tempt some at odds of 11/4 with Coral. The rivals have drawn 40 times in the league, with 22 of those stalemates coming at City. They drew in the 2016 League Cup final (City eventually winning) and also couldn’t be split in that competition in 2012.

When it comes to recent league meetings, however, Liverpool have the upper hand. The Reds have won the last four, including at Anfield earlier this season. They nicked that 1-0 and City will be looking for revenge.

However, if you fancy the away side, you can get odds of 3/1 (Betfred) on Liverpool. Given their amazing record against the top sides, that could appear tempting. Liverpool are unbeaten in 14 games against the Premier League’s top 11. They have four points from six against Chelsea and Spurs, have done the double over Arsenal and will hope to complete the double over City and Everton.

Home Advantage to Swing It

Ultimately though, we feel home advantage will just swing this towards the Citizens. City have beaten Arsenal at home and only Chelsea have beaten them all season. Odds of evens look very solid to us.

We think it will be a close game though and also a thriller. Neither side can defend but both can be dazzling going forward. 3-2 is always going to be a long shot but odds of 22/1 look very much worth a small punt. Note that Sky Bet offer £20 in free bets for a £5 stake. Why not try a fiver on 3-2, safe in the knowledge that you’ll have £20 in free bets to fall back on no matter what?
