Manchester City v Arsenal Betting Offers and Free Bets, Sunday 18th December 2016
The Premier League title race is finally starting to take shape, and that isn’t good news for Manchester City or Arsenal. Both are finding themselves some way off leaders Chelsea, while these two also trail high scoring Liverpool in the standings. If they’re going to battle for the title, neither can really afford to slip up over Christmas. Given that they face each other on Sunday, one is guaranteed to slip up.

Preview
Manchester City’s home advantage means they come in to this game as favourites, with Betfair pricing them at 23/20 to take all three points here. The Gunners are 21/10 with Coral to take another away victory, while the draw here is 45/17 with 888Sport. The bookies clearly don’t know which way this is going; they’re not writing either of these two off at this stage.
Well, in a way they have written both sides off already. Chelsea moved six points clear this week, they’re going to spend Christmas top of the Premier League regardless of what happens this weekend. SkyBet have cut the Blues to 8/11 to win the title, while City are at 9/2 with BCoral. Defeat at Everton has seen Arsenal drift out to 15/2 with BetVictor.
So, clearly these two have a lot of work to do if they’re going to finish the season at the summit of the Premier League. Of the two, Arsenal have been in much better form. They were 14 league games unbeaten before that loss to Everton. Meanwhile, City have failed to win in all but one of their last five home league games.
Betting Verdict
Arsenal’s form this season has been largely down to the excellent performances of Alexis Sanchez. He’s slotted in to a forward role with ease, hitting 11 goals so far. With Sergio Aguero out, the Chilean is easily the biggest goal threat on the pitch here. He plays his forward role in a style which Guardiola would love to have, and it’s likely to cause problems for this City defence. We can see Sanchez scoring here, and he’s excellent value at 7/4 with BetFred to get a goal at the Etihad.
Arsenal come here in better form, but we can’t see them pulling off the kind of win Chelsea did a couple of weeks ago here. The Gunners just don’t have the steel required to pull off a big away performance like that, while City are struggling to win games at their own ground. Even their mid-week victory over Watford was a struggle. That’s why we’re backing a fourth draw here in six games, which is priced at 45/17 with 888Sport.
