The bookies seem pretty certain of what to expect here and they’ve priced the field up accordingly. The current favourite in Pink Dogwood, priced up at 9/4 with Betfair going into this race. Narrowly behind is Mehdaayih, who can be found at 5/2 with BetVictor. They’re going for a two-way battle to claim success in this race, but splitting the two is difficult. However, we think there’s more depth to this one than the odds suggest, which gives us a chance to find some value at The Oaks.

Coming in as third favourite is Anapurna at 6/1 with Coral, but we’re looking a little further down here. Maqsad is a 7/1 shot with bet365, while we see plenty of value in that price. Trainer William Haggas has her ready for contention here, with the three-year old coming into this race in form. Maqsad had a solid start in 2018, with two top three finishes late last year. However, she’s gone from strength to strength since then, making huge strides very recently.

The three-year-old claimed a win at Newmarket back in mid-April, which saw her edge out the rest of the 10-strong field. That was followed up with a success earlier this month, with another success at Newmarket making her a serious contender here. Jockey Jim Crowley has saddled all four of those races, while he returns for this weekend’s meeting. With four top three-finishes and a record which is only getting better with each outing, Maqsad is a serious contender here. We can see her making a big impact on this race, so we’re backing her to win at 7/1 with bet365 on Friday.

We have another contender for this race, one which comes at twice the price. Lavender’s Blue is coming into this one as a 14/1 outsider with Ladbrokes, but there’s plenty of potential there. We’ve seen her make strides in 2019, with a win at Newmarket last month and a runner-up finish at Newbury this month. She was a strong contender for each of those, but the three-year-old is going a little under the radar ahead of this race. Given that she’s sitting so far out this weekend, we think it’s worth getting Lavender’s Blue on side here. We’re backing her each-way this weekend at 14/1 with Ladbrokes.
