The Players Championship Tips and Betting Offers, Thursday 12th May 2016, TPC Sawgrass
There is nothing quite like the Players Championship. This is the PGA Tour’s flagship event and every year the best players in the world turn up to TPC Sawgrass for a crack at the tournament which is known as the fifth major. Last season Rickie Fowler produced one of the most impressive ends to a tournament in the history of golf when he came from nowhere to book a place in the playoff. The world number five made mincemeat of the tough par three 17th, hitting perfect shots into the famous island green three times. 17 is sure to play a role once again but this wonderful course can catch players out at any point.

The Players Championship Betting Tips
TPC Sawgrass is a Pete Dye designed course and many people believe that it is his masterpiece. No two consecutive holes on the par 72 layout play in the same direction and it is vital to be able to move the ball both ways due to the varying doglegs that Dye included. Largely this is a second shot golf course as mistakes off the tee can be overcome and power is not a huge advantage around the 7,215 yard track. The greens are relatively small so accurate iron play and the ability to come in high and soft (and/or to scramble out of trouble) are important.
There are few players who would be upset with the sort of season that Rory McIlroy has had thus far but the world number three has as yet been able to grab a win and it is beginning to get to him. Rory had another brilliant round at the Wells Fargo Championship last season but his problem has been stringing four such top quality rounds together. The Northern Irishman was left ruing poor shot selection and a couple of mistakes last week but you just get the feeling that he is ready to really tear it up and remind the rest of the world what he can do. The Players Championship would be a brilliant place for his first win on US soil for over a year and he should be backed at 8/1 with Ladbrokes.
Rory may not have been at his best but he has remained solidly in the top 10 of the world rankings and one player who could join him in that elite club this week is Brandon Grace. The South African is currently 11th in the world and has a win and a top 10 finish in his last two PGA Tour starts. Grace has won at a variety of different courses but his wonderful short game and battling spirit should suit TPC Sawgrass down to the ground. He was unable to put together over the weekend last season but having learnt from that experience he looks over priced at 50/1 with BetVictor.
