Arsenal kick off their Champions League campaign away to French champions Paris Saint Germain. These two are widely expected to make it through this group, but this fixture will go a long way to deciding the order. Will the Gunners slip up and finish second once again, or can they take advantage of a PSG side who have dropped down a level over the summer?

PSG v Arsenal Betting Tips
Preview
The Gunners blew their opening two games of last season’s tournament, they needed a late push to make it in to the next round. They’ll be desperate to avoid that fate here, but can they get off to a strong start? Coral (Coral 400% free bet offer) make the French side 8/11 favourites to start off with all three points. Meanwhile the draw is 11/4 with 888Sport (or triple that for new 888sport customers), and the Gunners are 50/13 outsiders.
However, that doesn’t tell the whole story. PSG are expected to win because of their improvement at this level. They did lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic over the summer, while David Luiz exited the club on deadline day. Luiz isn’t a huge loss, but they’ll miss Ibra’s goals. They’ve failed to really sign a replacement for him, and Edinson Cavani can’t really be expected to step up after his poor spell in Paris so far.
This might just be a lucky break for Arsenal. They seem to be paired with one of the European superpowers, but there’s little intimidating about this PSG side. Manchester City came here in the quarter finals last season and claimed a 2-2 draw. The Gunners should be backing themselves to take a point from this ground too.
Betting Verdict
Anyone who saw PSG pulled apart at Monaco before the international break knows they are far from their best. The Gunners stepped things up at Watford before the international break, and now they have two new signings coming in to their team. With Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez ready to get their Arsenal careers underway, Wenger has plenty of options to choose from. We think that their added quality should see them take point back from Paris.
The Gunners haven’t been great at the back so far, but City weren’t when they claimed a draw here. PSG failed to kill the game off that night, and that’s a problem they still have. They may have quite a few creative stars, but they don’t have anyone to take control of the game. That leaves things open for Arsenal, and we’re backing them to claim a draw, with both sides scoring. That’s priced at 4/1 with BetVictor (BetVictor Bet £10, Get £60 Free offer).
We see this two being evenly matched, we’re struggling to separate them anywhere across the field. With that in mind, we’re backing a draw at both half-time and full-time, which is 9/2 with Betfair.
