Latest Betting Offers & Free Bets
Stake Returned Free Bets
These are often the best type of free bet offered by bookmakers online. It means that when you place the free bet, if you win you also get the free bet stake back with your winnings.
What is a stake returned free bet?
A stake returned free bet is pretty much what it says. A free bet offered by a bookmaker where you get to keep the value of the free bet if your selection wins. Most free bets these days are stake not returned, so a £25 free bet placed at evens returns £25, not £50.
If the freebie was stake returned you’d be looking at £50 and you don’t need to be top of the class to know you can buy more beer/clothes/holidays with £50 than you can with £25.
In the good old days (probably before 2006, give or take) you’d get stake returned free bets with no wagering attached – that is to say you could just bet the free bet once, often at very low odds and all the money was yours to keep.
The bookmakers are a bit meaner these days and so with most stake returned free bets you must wager the value of the free bet a number of times prior to being allowed to withdraw it (or any funds at all in most cases). There are also often minimum odds terms, such that bets placed at very low odds will not count towards the wagering needed to clear the free bet.
Stake Not Returned Free Bets
The opposite of the above, with these free bets you do not get the free bet amount back with any winnings from your bet. Which makes sense, right?
What is a Stake Not Returned Free Bet?
With a stake not returned free bet any winnings you make from betting the free bets in question are returned to your account but the stake itself – which was free – is not.
So, if you sign up for a Bet £10, Get £30 offer and place your £30 in free bets on a horse at even money (2.00 in decimal betting odds) and the horse wins you get a return of £30 (all profit as the £30 stake was free) as opposed to the normal £60 you would expect from either a normal bet or a stake returned free bet.
In the “good old days”, say around 2004, there were quite a good number of stake returned free bets but then the bookies realised they were being over-generous and now, more often than not they tend to be stake not returned.
This isn’t all bad though, as all stake returned free bets have wagering requirements before you can make a withdrawal and that applies not just to the free bet stake but the winnings too and sometimes your original deposit and qualifying bet too.
In contrast, with most stake not returned free bets any winnings from the freebie are usually instantly available, often making these a better deal in the long run and giving you a better chance of making some money.
Free Bets – Different Types of Free Bet Offers
Free bets come in various shapes and sizes and some are a lot better than others. Clearly all free bets, welcomes bonuses or betting offers come with a whole range of terms and conditions that apply to them.
These will include that they are only available to new customers (i.e. those who haven’t already opened a betting account with that bookie) and that customers must be aged 18+. Note that all the bookies we feature on this site are regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.
Here we explain everything you need to know about the different free bets and welcome bonuses offered by the best online bookmakers:
Free Bets Explained: Things to Look Out for with Free Bets
All free bets were not created equally and many factors affect how good a particular betting offer is. Probably the most important is what you need to do to get the free bet. Is the free bet added automatically when you make a deposit or only if you lose your first bet (as with no lose free bets above)? Is the free bet amount a 100% match of your deposit or is it only 50% or is it 200% or even higher?
Can the free bet be used to bet on anything or only certain sports? To qualify for the free bet do you have to place a bet first and if so are there minimum odds? Quite often bookmakers will only give you the free bet if your first bet is higher than a specific odds level whilst some even require that the qualifying bet is a double or treble. Restrictions on how the free bet is used, in terms of minimum odds, are usually less strict but it’s always a good idea to check the terms and conditions carefully.
With stake returned free bets you are usually required to complete wagering before you can withdraw the winnings. This is usually referred to as a wagering requirement or rollover. So, if you bet £10 at evens and get £20 you can’t (usually) just withdraw the money. The wagering is often in relation to either the bonus amount or the deposit and the bonus. For example if you deposit and bet £10 to get a £10 free bet and the wagering is six times the deposit plus bonus you would have to wager £20 six times – so £120 before you could withdraw any money from your account.
In addition there are also time limits to note. Many free bets will require that your deposit and qualifying wager are made within so many days or registering, whilst free bets themselves are often only valid for a certain time, often seven or 30 days. Similarly, for betting offers that have a wagering requirement you may have a time limit in which to complete it.
It’s important to remember though that none of these terms are designed to be tricks or to catch you out so as long as you make sure you have a quick read and then stick to them you won’t have any problems claiming your free bets and making a profit from them.
Why do Bookmakers Offer Free Bets?
Bookmakers offer free bets in the same way that supermarkets have loss leaders (products they actually lose money on) – to get people through the “door”. Free bets and other bookie offers are enticements to try and persuade you to try their product. If everyone only used the free bets the chances are the bookies would lose money as a free bet puts the odds in your favour, not theirs.
However, the best online bookies are confident that their offering will be good enough to keep enough players betting with them to cover the cost of the free bets. In that sense it’s just marketing and many bookmakers do actually allocate the cost of free bets to marketing.
Whether you decide to stay and play is entirely up to you. If you like to have the odd bet then the freebies are just a nice little extra. If you’re in this to make money then take the free bet and move on to the next bookmaker, and read on for our tips on how to use free bets to make money.
Using Free Bets to Make Money
There are many different ways to use free bets to make money but in actual fact they are all variations on the same theme. The free bet puts the odds in your favour and gives you a great chance to make money. Using free bets only, in the long term you will win, no matter what you do and here we look at some of the best methods of using free bets to make money, some of which are risk free and others which offer a higher reward.
This is a risk free method of using free bets to make money and involves using a betting exchange to lay the bet. Say you bet on Liverpool to win, you would also lay the bet, that is to say bet AGAINST Liverpool at the exchange. This way your result whatever happens is the same and because you are using a free bet you will make a profit overall.
Gambling with your Free Bet
As said, whatever you do with your free bet, assuming you only use the free bet and then move to another bookie offer, you should make money. Think of it like flipping a pound coin and the winner keeps the coin. If you get a free pound for flipping the first coin then overall you will win. If you win with your first (paid for toss, the equivalent of a qualifying bet) then you will either be £1 up if you lose the second toss the free bet) or £2 up if you win again. If you lose first and lose again, you are just £1 down as the second toss was free, but if you win you are level.
So, the four possible outcomes are £2 up, £1 up, level or £1 down. Averaged out you would expect a 50p profit across the four outcomes. Thus, no matter what you do, using free bets you should make a profit. Even if you stick a needle in the list of horses, over time and enough free bets you’ll make money!
Other ways to use your Free Bet
There are various different methods you can use, either by laying just the free bet or just the qualifier and also using high odds for one or low odds or a mixture. If you want to have fun AND make money then simply betting with the free bets and other similar bookmaker offers and promotions is the way to go. Alternatively, if you want a guaranteed, risk free profit from betting then matched betting may be best for you.

Free Bets and Welcome Bonuses
Betting offers available with UK bookies come in all shapes and sizes but there is no doubt that free bets and welcome bonuses are the focus of many a bookmaker. These offers are made available to customers who are yet to join a particular bookie and they are designed to attract new customers.
Of course, though these offers are generally termed ‘free bets’ the customers invariably has to make an initial real money deposit and place a qualifying bet in order to attain them. For this reason, under increased scrutiny from the authorities, many bookies have changed the structure and indeed the presentation of their welcome offers so they don’t give the impression that they are completely free bets.
For instance, many have introduced ‘bet and get’ free bet offers, which does exactly what it says – e.g. you join a bookie, place a bet of at least a fiver and then you’ll be given £20 in free bets (18+, T&C Apply).
Other bookies opt to give a 100% matched free bet up to a certain amount such that you join the bookie, place a qualifying bet and, once that bet is settled, you’ll be credited with a free bet to the same value as your qualifying bet.
Free Bet Clubs
While most bookies offer some kind of free bet or other incentive to join them, there are a growing number of what are dubbed ‘Free Bet Clubs’ that give weekly free bets to existing customers. These are brilliant ongoing promotions that are perfect for customers who like betting a set (often fairly modest) amount each week and who would like to be rewarded for their loyalty of sticking to one bookie. Typically customers can earn a £5 free bet if they place real money bets of a certain amount (often £20) in the preceding week.
Enhanced Odds Offers and Price Boosts
Another common way that bookmakers try to attract new customers is through the use of enhanced odds offers. These are often offered to new customers only as an alternative to the standard free bet offer or welcome bonus. Often restricted to a small maximum stake and generally paid out in free bets as opposed to real cash, enhanced odds offers for new customers can offer stupendously good value such that it is often the case that the bookie is essentially giving away the free bets.
Examples of massive enhanced odds offers includes the regular Coral 50/1 Enhanced Odds Offers that pop up from time to time, often on there being at least one goal in a given game of football, or sometimes for their being a yellow card shown.
Price boosts are similar to enhanced odds offers in that they boost the odds from the standard price to something greater. They differ, however, in that they are generally offered to new and existing customers alike, they pay out in cash rather than free bets and they are far less dramatic in terms of the actually difference between the standard price and the boosted price. For example a favourite to win a given horse race might be boosted from 4/1 to 6/1 for a limited time.
Money Back Offers
Bookies who want to retain customer loyalty know that regular betting offers for existing customers are more important than welcome bonuses. Money back offers are a way for bookies to give customers something back in the hope the customer will keep betting with them instead of choosing another bookie instead.
Money back offers can apply to just about any sport or market, but the most common money back offers are found in horse racing (for instance money back if you horse falls in National Hunt racing or is narrowly beaten in flat racing) and football (for instance if a game finishes goalless, if someone hits the woodwork or various other things, varying from bookie to bookie).
Casino Offers and Bonuses
As well as sport betting offers, we also cover a number of casino offers and bonuses from the online casino we have judged to be the most trustworthy and well-run. There are many online casinos we really aren’t too keen on for various reasons, but the ones we feature on BettingOffers.co are all ones we have used and found to be wholly trustworthy. They tend to be the casino arm of the big bookies we feature, with one or two exceptions.

Who are Coral?
Coral were formed in the 1920s by Joe Coral and grew into one of Britain’s biggest high street bookmakers after the legalisation of betting shops in the 1960s. They are a familiar presence in UK towns and cities and a well-known brand with an excellent reputation and a wide range of superb products.
Now part of the giant Gala Coral Group, they retain almost 2,000 bricks and mortar betting shops but do most of their business online, offering the famous sports betting brand, alongside online bingo, poker, games, lotto, live casino and more.
Coral Interactive – effectively the Coral website – is licensed and regulated in Gibraltar by the territory’s Gambling Commissioner and much of Coral’s operation is based there, although they also have various offices around the UK as well as employing well over 10,000 staff in their British shops.
Coral are a huge company with a long history and both of these indicate they are a name you can trust and a business that knows what its customers want. Their “Raising the Game” initiative has been a huge success, making them even more competitive and with a great range of betting offers and a highly polished product, Coral get the thumbs up from us here at bettingoffers.co.
Coral Review and Features
As with most of the UK high street giants that have been around since the dawn of time (well, about 90 years in Coral’s case), Coral are excellent all-rounders with no obvious weaknesses. Their recent focus on providing decent betting offers for new and existing customers has actually delivered tangible benefits to the customers and it has achieved what they set out to do. As a result, over the past few years Coral have definitely returned to the top group of online and mobile bookies.
Their free bet offer is superb and is well backed up by an excellent range of betting offers, from regular freebies on racing, football and golf to special bonuses and promotions for many big sporting events, as well as their various casino, games and slots offers.
Their range of markets and sports is excellent and their odds, whilst not too often right at the very top of the tree, are never too far away. They offer a good range of price boosts and enhancements on top of their standard odds and these are often far better than you will get with rivals.
Their in-play, live betting is another strong feature, as is their fine mobile site. Coral may have been a little slower than some rivals, such as BetVictor and Bet365, to embrace these areas but now they have and their offerings are superb. Both interfaces are easy and natural to use, as well as being quick and easy on the eye and the “Bet In Play” tab takes you straight to the heart of the live betting facility with various nice extras such as a calendar of upcoming events and decent customisation options.
With great non-sports betting options too – all with their own range of bonuses as highlighted below – and superb customer service (available 7am until midnigh UK time) by a good range of methods including live chat, Coral are definitely one of our very favourite online and mobile gambling sites.
BetVictor Betting Offers, Free Bets and Review
BetVictor are a betting company with a long history of providing excellent service to sports betting fans and the current owner is the grandson of the founder and has earned the nickname “the Gentleman Bookmaker” for his old-fashioned values.
That said, BetVictor is also a highly innovative company and this is evident in their exceptional sports betting operation, as well as very good online casino, bingo, poker and games betting operations.
BetVictor Betting Offers, Bonuses and Promotions
BetVictor have a huge range of offers on at any one time and on top of their main welcome offer they have plenty of free bets and promotions for existing customers.
Fans of both teams to score betting will love their Back of the Net Promotion, that offers a free bet of up to £25 if just one leg of an accumulator (five-folds and up) lets you down, whilst football fans also regularly get red card refunds and other money back specials.
Big golf tournaments, as well as other events such as the Grand National almost always have enhanced each way terms, with payment down to six or even seven places, whilst racing fans will also love the fact that BetVictor offer Best Odds Guaranteed on all UK and Irish races, non-runner no bet on Cheltenham and the National and live streaming of races on your computer or mobile.
Of course, away from sports betting there are also loads of freebies and bonuses available at BetVictor, with great casino, games, poker and bingo promotions all offering – in effect – free money, or at the very least a much better chance of walking away with a nice profit. You can read more about those further down or carry on for more of BetVictor’s great sports betting offers.
Almost all big events, from the tennis Grand Slams to Grands Prix, golf’s Majors and the big races will have some form of offer, with refunds of a particular team/player wins one of BetVictor’s favourite betting offers. In addition BetVictor also run promotions from time to time to push a certain market – for example both teams to score – or a new system or platform (for example they quite often run free bets or offers exclusively for mobile users.
Overall we have to rate BetVictor very highly when it comes to their free bets, bonuses and promotions and whilst we would love to see them simplify – and enlarge – the opening free bet, they still get the thumbs up from us.
Who are BetVictor?
BetVictor has its origins in the Walthamstow Greyhound Stadium that the current boss’ grandfather set up in 1925. That was William Chandler and his son, Victor, got into bookmaking in the 1940s before handing the reigns to his son and current owner (also called Victor!) in 1975.
As with many of the UK’s biggest online bookmakers, from small beginnings came great things and the company now turns over more than £1bn with customers in 160 countries, offering the full range of gaming options from online casino, bingo and poker to a live casino, dedicated games and slots suites (that are essentially casino add-ons) and betting on just about every sport or event you could think of.
BetVictor offer an excellent combination of old-fashioned values and modern innovation. On the one hand large stakes are allowed, BetVictor’s odds reflect a genuine belief in the events, not just the developments of the market and the bookie has an excellent reputation for honesty and integrity. But equally, on the other hand, BetVictor pioneered offshore betting (and helped end UK betting tax) and has also been at the forefront of moves towards mobile betting and the prevalence of in-play betting.
Much of the operation is now based in Gibraltar, where BetVictor are licensed and regulated but they are a firmly British company and one with whom you can bet and gamble with absolute security and safety.
BetVictor Review and Features
BetVictor are an excellent all-rounder and it’s easy to see why this huge betting company have become so successful. Everything does what you would want it to do and the site looks, feels and performs superbly well. They don’t really have any obvious weaknesses or faults and all in all most people are sure to find betting with BetVictor simple, fun and hassle free.
Their odds are among the very best you will find away from the betting exchanges, especially on football but across a range of sports and markets. They operate to very tight margins on football and offer excellent odds on both teams to score, Asian handicaps and also match odds. In general they offer a wide range of markets and whilst, as a UK bookmaker, there is a slight tendency to focus on “UK sports”, this isn’t as pronounced as at some rivals and in general they cover a good variety of sports and events.
BetVictor have become known as an innovative bookie and they were one of the first to really develop their in-play console, whilst their mobile betting site is also excellent. Live/in-play betting is available on mobile and, as with the main site, the mobile version and apps work well and are simple to use, as well as being quick and easy on the eye.
They also offer a superb range of bonuses and these range from regular offers to ad hoc ones and even huge promotions such as the chance to win a trip to the World Cup. Overall we really rate BetVictor and whilst the initial free bet could be bigger and less complex we still rank them among the best online and mobile bookies around.
